Last but not least!

Enjoy some photographs taken on Sunday the 1st of July, 2012 from the VIP steam boat Côte-d’Azur.

After a two-week break in Lorient, the fleet is on the way to Galway for Leg 9.

Despite of a tough start Camper managed to win Leg 9. Groupama sailing team arrived second in Galway which means… no matter how they will sail the last In-port Race in Ireland… they won the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012! Congratulations to the French Franck Cammas and his teammates!

How can a photographer create without creations of others?

The artist, Hema Upadhyay, recreated the Dharavi Slum of Bombay on two sides of a narrow corridor. This photograph plays with the lights and shows a detail the elaborated work.

Up in the sky

A great family band helped me with the title of this post: thanks! But the title only. The content is, once again, related to the Volvo Ocean Race and its stop in Lorient, France.

Way too early!

On Leg 8 of the Volvo Ocean Race, from Lisbon (Portugal) to Lorient (France) Groupama Sailing Team arrived first and earlier than expected!

The dedicated Race Village of Lorient is not ready yet but will open tomorrow.

Abbaye Notre-Dame d’Orval

Abbaye d'Orval, Belgique, Europe

Orval Abbey, Villers-devant-Orval, Belgium

Founded as a Cistercian monastery, the abbey is well-known for its history and current spiritual life. Trappist Cistercian monks still welcome guests for short retreats.

The Abbaye Notre Dame d’Orval attracts also many tourists probably thanks to ist local production of Trappist Beer and typical cheese!

And more later on I guess. I will not stay far away from this cathedral for ever!

~~~ 800 ~~~
The pictures presented below are not the best ones… but I love this cathedral and I need to share it!
Every evening this summer there is a great show on the cathedral. It helps you to imagine how colorful the cathedral looked like when it was first built and how they built it!
Whenever you have time, please try to spend a week end in Rheims in the summer 2011, you will not regret it!
Il y a quelques années de cela, le premier plan de bateaux colorait un paysage cubique, grisonnant et désolé: la base de sous-marins construite pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. Une base indestructible! Seules les marées donnaient un peu de vie à l’endroit.
Récemment, la Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly a transformé ce paysage. Dessinée en blocs et vagues, elle réconcilie le jeu fluide des marées océanes aux arrêtes dures des blocs de  béton.
